Supports projects that strengthen food distribution systems, including aggregation, storage, logistics, and infrastructure tied to moving food into communities.

Cold chain, storage, distribution components, and even mobile market vehicles may be included when tied to launching or expanding a structured food access program, with funding focused on operations, routes, and impact.

This is a strong opportunity for organizations developing the operational and supply chain side of a mobile market program.

This is a strong fit for organizations building or expanding the program and engagement side of a mobile market.

2022 Summer Celebration Recap

Under the most beautiful supermoon on July 13, a diverse group of food and beverage producers came together for a fun evening of delicious bites, music, and conversation.

The Summer Celebration on the rooftop of Arizona Beverage is looked forward to each year and despite the date change, we had a great evening. Up and coming companies made wonderful connections, shared ideas, and received valuable exposure. We added to the excitement with a special foodie experience led by Chef Victor of The Cook’s Studio and music by the group SoBeez.

The Return of LIFC Rooftop Event

The Long Island Food Council celebrated Wednesday night with the return of its largest networking event. The beautiful garden rooftop was lit up with excitement. Attendees and producers socialized again in person, seeing old friends, and making new valuable connections.

A LIFC Member Teams Up with PSEG

A Powerful New Initiative

PSEG Long Island has teamed up with Island Harvest all summer long on a new initiative to help people in our communities facing food insecurity.
It’s called Power to Feed Long Island and you can still help.

Summer is particularly challenging because food banks see their stock dwindle rapidly and donations decrease.
We’ve set a goal to provide enough food for 21,000 meals and we’ve already collected more than 11,000! Please join us and help feed Long Island.

The September 17 event will have extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in recognition of Hunger Action Day.

TIME: 9:45am – 4:00pm (approximately)

Island Harvest will be having a food distribution for 3,000 families at Nassau Coliseum on Monday, November 23rd, and they are looking for volunteers to assist! THE LIFC would like to put together a group of volunteers that can man a station for up to 4 people. If you would like to bring a group from your company or have individuals that would like to join please contact elise@longislandfoodcouncil.com

Day of Food Distribution:

Volunteers will help with loading cars with food for families and individuals in need of assistance during this pandemic. The address is 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale. Please use the entrance on Hempstead Turnpike, parking will be on the left.

Volunteers will need to arrive between 9:45-10am. Volunteer sign in will be under the large tent, and a brief training will take place at 10:15am. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers shortly after, and the food distribution will begin between 10:30-11am. The event is expected to end by 4pm, including clean up.

Masks and gloves will be worn at all times, and volunteers will be split into stations, which will help enforce social distancing. 3 or 4 individuals will be assigned per station, and so if you are interested in volunteering with a group, you are able to have a designated station. There will be warming stations on site, and please make sure you are wearing closed-toe shoes.

Rooted Events – Vegan Market

Dear friend!

Green Street Food Truck, in association with fellow vegan entrepreneurs, has set up an exciting opportunity for vegan business growth on Long Island. ‘Rooted Events‘ will be putting on vegan farmers’ markets over the next few months. They will take place (potentially, if proven successful) twice monthly, rotating between Nassau and Suffolk.

These events are aimed at highlighting the vegan business network here on the island and hopes to promote a sense of community, awareness, and revenue for the vegan movement.

Rooted Events would like to invite you to be a part of our kick-off event, on Thursday, August 6th, from 4 pm-9 pm, at 3434 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown.

We are asking a minimal fee of $50, to cover the costs for the event. All the permits required, as well as regulations for COVID19 safety, are outlined in the events contract, please feel free to reach out with any questions regarding the event.

Additionally, the LIFC hosted two panel discussions the first from the New York State Liquor Authority. The panelists answered questions, spoke of previous experiences to further educate business professionals in the industry. The next panel of local business owners and professionals from the east end discussed the industry from the producers standpoint. With years of working with the New York State Liquor Authority these professionals are able to give their insight into running a liquor related business.

26th Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration

Island Harvest Food Bank’s 26th Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. This evening attracts more than 550 Long Islanders, and is one of Island Harvest’s major fundraising events of the year. As a restaurant known for your fine fare within the Long Island community, we would like to invite you to participate in this year’s celebration. This gourmet tasting event is a great opportunity to gain valuable exposure for your business while raising awareness about hunger on Long Island.

Island Harvest Food Bank, Long Island’s largest hunger-relief organization, provides food and non-food items to more than 300,000 Long Islanders who are living with food insecurity and in need, giving them a voice to help them transition from uncertainty to stability. Our mission is to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island, distributing over 11 million pounds of food and product every year.

This signature culinary event is successful because of the contributions of the extraordinary business owners, like you, who participate. By preparing specialties for guests to enjoy (we kindly request no desserts), you will be able to showcase what makes your restaurant exceptional. Your involvement would add greatly to the success of this event, and we look forward to your participation this year.

With a commitment to join us prior to August 30^th, 2019, your restaurant will be listed on the invitation that is mailed to more than 5,000 Island Harvest supporters. Your restaurant will also be noted on our social media platforms with more than 15,000 followers, and mentioned in an E-blast that is sent to 18,000 members of our community.
