The luncheon, Honoring A Women’s Path to Success, was held Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY.  The keynote speaker was Patricia McDonald, Mayor of Malverne, and widow of NYPD Detective Steven McDonald.  Carol Silva of News 12 Long Island was the Master of Ceremonies.

First we would like to thank Island Harvest for hosting our February meeting in their new Bethpage office space.  As the Long Island Food Council grows, the sizes of our meeting rooms grow too.  Today we welcomed over 25 members of the council.  Special thank you to Zorn’s of Bethpage for catering breakfast for our meeting.

Bradley Hamburger of FOA & Son was our first speaker.  He educated us on the importance of recall liability insurance and stressed that some businesses small or large, may not be ready for a voluntary recall of their products.  FOA & Son has helped businesses ranging from startups to billion dollar companies prepare for the unexpected in the ever changing food industry.

Our feature food business of the meeting was JoAnn Linden of Crème Allure, a gourmet ice cream gift business based out of Commack.  JoAnn let the group sample a wide variety of some of her products and expressed her desire to grow the business.  The presentation, and treats were well received and members offered their support for her.

23rd Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration!

The 23^nd Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration presented by Petro Home Services will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.  This year we will highlight our important work of addressing hunger and food insecurity on Long Island, and will once again showcase area chefs, restaurants, country clubs, catering halls and food suppliers through a gourmet food and spirits tasting. This evening attracts over 500 Long Islanders and is one of Island Harvest’s major fundraising events of the year.  This event is a great opportunity to gain valuable exposure for your business while raising awareness about hunger on Long Island.
