Banana Bread Baking Company
Hi! My name is Lenore. I’m a wife, mother, baker, and photographer. I have been baking since I got my first apartment oh so many years ago! The first thing I ever baked – that I wanted to try was banana bread. I loved (and still love) all things banana and so I would explore and experiment until I found something that I truly enjoyed. Over the years, I have made my banana bread for everyone and everything. Birthday parties for all ages, PTA meetings, bake sales, raffle baskets, hostess gifts, and the list goes on. Baking is a joy & a passion and the range of what I bake is far and wide…so when I wanted to pursue the idea of having a baking business naturally I asked myself well, where do I begin? What’s my story? The answer was simple. Banana Bread. That’s where my story begins.

Lite Hearted Hummus
As a Dietitian for over 25 years, I noticed that people eat a lot of hummus thinking it’s a low calorie snack option. But many times hummus is overly processed, high in sodium, fat-laden (and not always with just “good fats”) and high in calories. I felt the need to develop a delicious, lower calorie, lower fat, better for you option that tastes great!

JavaMelts, Inc.
In 2016 the Javamelts product, an individually-wrapped cane sugar-based melt for sweetening and flavoring coffee and teas, was created. It was the beginning of a journey that Barbarite could only imagine. Through trial and error, researching and developing, knocking on doors, and networking with the finest in the business, Barbarite grew Javamelts from her initial idea at her home to the current facility where it is made today.
Javamelts are unique, and because of all their benefits offered to the consumer, everyday traveler and professional, they were easily introduced and taken in by local gourmet groceries and businesses, thus appealing to the daily shopper or neighbor next door. But Barbarite knew that was just the beginning of something much larger and soon made her product available to corporate customers, where production would need to increase significantly. The presence at many trade shows throughout the country was key to getting to the next level in marketing Javamelts. Through those connections and networking, Barbarite has brought Javamelts to the attention of national brokers, distributors and corporations and intends to take Javamelts to the highest level with no signs of stopping.
Barbarite holds her Paralegal Degree from Becker College and married her high-school sweetheart soon after their college graduations. She credits her substantial legal background in helping establish herself as a well-rounded businesswoman who has worked and negotiated with Fortune 500 companies throughout the world. Barbarite was raised in Smithtown, New York, and has remained there with her husband and three daughters.

Nixon Peabody
Allan Cohen is the Office Managing Partner in Long Island. He represents a variety of companies, ranging from large public entities engaging in mergers and acquisitions, to mid-sized closely held and family-owned business, to technology-based startups organizing new business ventures and raising capital.
What do you focus on?
I focus on maintaining a general business law practice, adept at handling my clients’ varied business needs and providing the type of outside counsel that businesses would expect from an in-house general counsel. My clients view me as the “quarterback,” ensuring that not only their business law, but also their employment, litigation, intellectual property, regulatory and other legal needs are met.
I dedicate much of my practice to mergers and acquisitions, including buy-side work for public and private companies, and sell-side work for closely held and family-owned businesses. My M&A transactions involve a wide range of industries, including health care, medical device, life sciences, consumer products and insurance. Over my career, I have closed well over 200 M&A transactions.
I also represent many technology-based startups, including biotech and medical device companies, in the formation and organization of their businesses and seed, angel, VC and private equity financings. Much of my work is for “serial entrepreneurs” who have exited prior businesses and are starting up their next ones.
What do you see on the horizon?
Technology-based companies are going to lead us into the next decade. We partner with our clients in order to help them become market leaders of the future.
