Real Straw

Former tavern owner, bartender for forty years, with master’s degrees from Ithaca College and University at Buffalo. I started RealStraw to atone for putting over a million plastic straws into the environment. Grown in NY, farm to table, all-natural wheat and rye stems. I founded greenyellowred.org, which delivers (on-line and live) a NY SLA certified Alcohol Training Awareness Program I created.

A short history of drink straws.
Thousands of years ago, people started using wheat and rye stems to sip their favorite beverages. About a hundred and forty years ago, paper straws were invented. After that, plastic straws took over. Then a sea turtle got hurt.
Time to get rid of plastic straws. Let’s get back to nature with all-natural Farm to Table RealStraw drink straws and stir sticks.

FRESH IS DIFFERENT

Satur Farms was started 20 years ago by a farmers’ daughter living and working in New York City and yearning again for country life along with her chef-husband, at the top of the culinary world, but lacking the fresh ingredients that he worked with in illustrious kitchens in Europe. Armed with Paulette Satur’s plant science degrees and Chef Eberhard Müller’s passion for culinary perfection, they set about growing their farming business together.

All American Wontons

“I started the business with my best friend Kerri in 2012 after an idea that sprang from a trip to Atlantic City. Days after, we got home, grabbed a handful of wonton wrappers and began to curate our own filling, incorporating some of our favorite flavors like buffalo chicken and bacon mac and cheese. We made a couple of care packages to hand out to our friends and family~ they absolutely loved them and we knew we had to share them with others!”

Soronko Kitchen and Bakery

I am a pastry chef specializing in West African food products and beverages. One of the fondest memories I have of my childhood is accompanying my mother to the market during my childhood in Ghana, West Africa. I developed a fondness for street foods and cold traditional beverages. The aroma, texture, taste, and nostalgic feelings associated with them were all captivating. My passion for creating and baking West African snacks and beverages began in my early years, as I spent time in the kitchen learning how to make my favorite treats. Eventually, I pursued this curiosity by enrolling in culinary school. After migrating to the United States, I realized how much I missed the authentic taste of my childhood treats but struggled to find anything comparable. As a result, I am now determined to share the flavors of Ghana with the rest of the world through my food and beverage products, which are made with love.

The Cook’s Studio

Chef Victor’s love of the culinary arts began at an early age watching Julia Child on TV. His very first summer job was washing dishes and cutting vegetables in a hotel in Southampton, and he never looked back. He continued to cook every summer and weekend during high school.

Chef Victor went on to study Hotel & Restaurant Management in college. In 1988 he attended the prestigious French Culinary Institute in NYC, where he graduated top in his class. He continued to hone his skills in both culinary and pastry at many restaurants, hotels, and private clubs from New York to Massachusetts.
In 1998 he opened his own restaurant, and in 2000 another. During his career Chef, Victor has received much media attention including numerous TV and radio appearances, high marks from both The Zagat Survey and The New York Times, and even a photo in Bon Appetit Magazine.

In 2005 Chef Victor decided to share his knowledge with the next generation of cooks and became a licensed Chef Instructor at The Culinary Academy of Long Island. Culinary education became a new passion. In 2009 ACCSC, a national education accrediting agency, named Chef Victor ‘Instructor of the Year’ for the entire country. That same year he was promoted to Corporate Executive Chef and helped the school grow to five campuses in three states where he oversaw all the students, chefs, and curricula.

In 2013 when the founder retired, Chef Victor was again promoted, this time to Campus President for The Culinary Academy of Long Island. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the success of thousands of students who have gone on to achieve their own culinary dreams. In 2019 Victor teamed up with Vincenzo Saulle owner and winemaker of wineUdesign to launch The Cook’s Studio at wineUdesign, a recreational culinary school, and event space right in the barrel room of wineUdesign in Hicksville.

At The Cook’s Studio™, our Long Island cooking classes can help inspire your culinary creativity. Our interactive cooking classes take you on a gastronomic journey of discovery where you cook, socialize, and, of course, eat!
