We are proud to highlight the recent donation from John King, chief executive of J. Kings Food Service, to Island Harvest Food Bank of a 20,000-square-foot warehouse in Calverton.   Randi Shubin Dresner, President of Island Harvet, has been a Long Island Food Council member since day 1.  Under Randi’s direction, Island Harvest has increased income by more than 250% in the past five years alone. Her grasp of hunger and related issues has established her as the “go-to” source for the national, local and regional media, government officials and the region’s thought leaders on matters relating to hunger, poverty and as an advocate for people in need.

Island Harvest plans to store hundreds of thousands of pounds of food in order to help those in need on the island.

The donation event, which was covered by multiple media outlets including Newsday.  Click here to read the full article.

Randi Shubin Dresner has served as president and chief executive officer of Island Harvest Food Bank since 2001.  Her work at Island Harvest has raised awareness of the insidious, yet often unrecognized problem of chronic hunger on Long Island along with other important societal issues.
